Giraffeby Perpetuum

Privacy

How the Become a Giraffe page and its application use your information.

This notice covers perpetuum.co/giraffe only. Last updated 9 October 2026.

Who we are

Giraffe is run by Perpetuum Innovations. In this notice, "we" means Perpetuum and its Giraffe team.

What you send when you apply

When you send your application, we store:

Your application is stored in Cloudflare D1, a database run by Cloudflare for us. Cloudflare also hosts this page.

Your application isn't saved until you press "Send my application". If sending fails, your answers stay on your screen so you can try again.

Who decides

A person on our team reads every application. No AI selects, scores or ranks applicants. Sending an application tells us you're interested; it isn't a job offer.

Mr. G, our AI sidekick (optional)

If you choose "Yes, read it", the question you picked and your answer are sent to OpenAI so Mr. G can reply. Your name, contact details, links and area are not sent.

Mr. G's reply is shown to you. It is not saved and our team doesn't see it. It isn't part of your application.

So that his follow-up question can be matched to the exact answer he read, we keep a short-lived record of that question with a hash of your answer, not the answer itself. It is set to expire after 48 hours and is removed by a daily clean-up. If you answer his question and send your application, your answer to it is saved with your application, separately from your main answer.

If you skip Mr. G's read, no question or answer is sent for an AI reply. Voice transcription is a separate optional feature, described below.

Saying your answer (optional)

If you choose to record your answer, your browser asks for the microphone first. The recording is sent through our server to OpenAI to turn it into text you can edit. Our app does not keep the audio. You decide whether to use, add, replace or discard the text.

Area search with Google Maps (optional)

When you search for your area, only the text you type is sent from our server to Google Maps Platform, to find matching places. When you choose a place, its Google place ID is sent to Google to confirm it. These requests come from our server, not your device.

We don't use your device's location or GPS, and we don't use your IP address to work out where you are.

We store only the Google place ID and the words you searched with. The place name and address that Google shows you are not saved.

Google's use of this information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

You can always type your area instead. Then nothing is sent to Google.

Invitations

After you apply, you get your own invitation link. A friend who applies through it has their application linked to yours. Neither of you can see the other's application, and it doesn't change how either of you is considered.
